Nairobi is a pleasant modern city and the best base for traveling in the country. See the National Museum, outstanding for its displays of animals and flora arranged in natural settings, its prehistoric exhibits and range of African weapons and ceremonial headdresses. Next to the museum is the Snake Park, where you can see a wide range of snakes and other reptiles. Both are Ainsworth Hill, about one and a half miles from the city center.
