Christmas's fairytale route: The Romantic Road

The Romantic Road. When we talk about Germany, many of us may think of big cities, business centers and an icy weather in winter. At least it was for me. This time we took a different path in our journey and felt as if we were the protagonists of fairy tale books.

After renting a car from Frankfurt, the first stop was Nuremberg, followed by Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Cochem, Burg Eltz, Beilstein and Mörsdorf. We were mesmerized by the castles, castles, the legendary love of Rapunzel, the thousand colors of autumn and the landscapes. When the Christmas markets and Christmas decorations were added, we did not want to return home.

Nuremberg is a two and a half hour drive from Frankfurt. Our first stop in a hotel located in the square. Since the Christmas market was established on the main square, it was a great sight. There was sparkling everywhere, huge Christmas trees, hot wines, an infinite number of Santa Claus, snow globes and all kinds of decorations you could think of.

Particularly, the decorations of the showcases were so elaborate that we were not used to seeing them in many places. I spent a lot of time in front of every showcase. I was dying to take pictures and examine! About 2 million tourists visit the Christmas market each year. We are one of them N Nuremberg is the second largest city in Bavaria. Bavaria; it has a mixed culture that offers quite nice flavors in terms of food types. Don’t be surprised if you are inspired by Austrian, German and Swiss cuisine.

Rothenburg ob der Tauber, our second stop on the romantic road… Narrow cobblestone streets, medieval triangular roofs and local people’s clothing have taken us on a magical journey in the past. Romantik Hotel Markusturm was one of the sweetest hotels in the city center and kept up with the texture of the city. Luckily, we came across the Christmas market here. The famous Marktplatz (Main Square) began to be decorated with wooden sheds with red awning. Different products are sold in each shed. Sweets, cookies, food, hot wines ne you have everything you can think of.

If you have time, I suggest you visit the puppet and toy museum. It is quite a fun activity especially for families with children. Since the city is very small, everywhere is close together. You should definitely visit this wonderful store where I couldn’t get out and spend more than an hour. Kathe Wohlfahrt… It was the most elaborate, magical store I have ever seen. For an hour, I put aside everything in my mind and felt like I was in another dimension in a brilliant five-storey store.

They also have a dessert that resembles a snowball known as the original Snowball. I’m among those who wonder and try, but I didn’t like the taste. This wonderful city is so tiny that we visited every place in one day, took photos and enjoyed our food and coffee in the square. If you want to visit, you can stay one day and then visit other wonderful cities along the romantic road.
