I’m on the island of Florianopolis in the state of Santa Catarina in southern Brazil. Island’s local people call it as Flaripa. Or you can go to the bus station after landing in Sao Paulo and take a 10-hour bus ride to the island.

Canasvierias, Jurere Internacional and Praia dos Ingleses beaches are the most popular beaches in the north. They’re more waveless than the south. Canasvierias beach is the most suitable for this, especially if you say you can visit souvenir shops while you are gone. If we go south, the beaches of Campeche, Matadeiro and Pantono do Sul are the favorites in the south. Because you can find all kinds of caipirinha, Brazil’s favorite drink prepared with plenty of ice in open air bars. These bars on the sands are surrounded by people who make their own music and dance.
Both cheap and delicious
Florianopolis is an island with seafood as you can imagine. There are local restaurants on all of the beaches I have mentioned. I’m especially confident in my experience that restaurants with plastic chairs are the most delicious. Your single orders are big enough to feed three people. Here you can see every length and every use of Shrimp. Oysters alone are very famous, especially the ones with cheese you should try.
If you see Tapioca while visiting Florianopolis, don’t miss it because it is one of the most local flavors of this place. The starch obtained from the cassava plant is cooked in a thin manner in the pan and prepared by placing the desired material between them. Both light and delicious. If you want to eat fast food, the food truck in Lagoa de Conceicao is the first place I can recommend. You can find whatever you want from hamburger to pizza, from pancakes to sushi. The atmosphere is very lively with the skateboard in the middle. You can spend a nice night with live music for USD 5 per person.
Water Sports
Florianopolis beaches, sunbathing and swimming in the sea can be done in a variety of activities outside. It is highly developed especially in water sports. Two lagoons on the island, cut out for a standup paddle. For wave surfing it is important to choose the beaches that suit your level.
Barra de Lagoa is the first recommended beach for the beginner level. Four hour wave surf rental costs USD 5. You can rent and leave yourself at the mercy of the waves. Don’t worry, the lifeguards are everywhere. If you only use water for swimming, trekking is a fun land activity on this island. The protected Lagoinha do Este is one of the most beautiful spots you can see, especially where there is no land transportation and can only be reached by a one and a half hour walk from the beach of Pontano de Sul.
