Vermont (the Green Mountain State) is primarily rolling countryside and forests. The Green Mountains cat through the state from north to south. Winters are cold with a good deal of snow; summers are pleasantly cool.
Leading industries are lumbering, dairying and agriculture, quarryng, and machine tool and textile manuacturing.
The principal cities are Burlington, Rutland, Barre, Brattleboro, Montpelier (the capital) and St. Albans. Vermont is particularly known for its vacation districts, including Brandon, Lake Bomoseen, Manchester, Mddlebury, Newport, Stowe and Windsor.
