San Diego Beach and Pier in California

All of San Diego and the surrounding regions are resort areas. To the north are such delightful communities at La Jolla, Carlsbad, Oceanside, Laguna Beach and Balboa; all have hotels, motels or cottages offering good accommodations. Across the bay from San diego is Coronado ısland, ideal for a vacation. Palm Springs, about 135 miles northeast, is the well known desert resort. Borrego Springs Desert Resort is located about 90 miles northeast. Pleasant trips may be made by automobile into Mexico, by way of Tijuana, about 15 miles south.

Combining the features of both a resort and an industrial city, san Diego compromises on apparel. People dress informally, but do not wear shorts or similar sportswear in the business district. Sport shirts and sport jackets for men are appropriate in the summer. Take a topcoat along if you plan on being out for the entire day; the temperature drops at night.

San Diego Chamber of Commerce, 499 W. Broadway, deals primarily with business problems. Convention and Tourists Bureau, 924 Second Ave., answers questions and supplies folder for tourists or conventions. Time is Pacific Standard Time; daylight saving time is observed in season.
