New York consists of 5 main regions. These are Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx and Staten. Almost all of the attractions are in the Manhattan Island area. These regions are Avenue and the streets crossing the streets. The avenues are kilometers long. So I’m adding the map of the region, as always, to shape it in your mind. I will be writing the places to visit in detail below.
If you are planning to stay for one week or more and wish to see everything, you must buy a New York Pass for rire days.
New York is quite expensive. Therefore, if you buy this ticket, you will save time without waiting in line and cost less.
You can buy your ticket online and print it out and you can obtain your card at the indicated points. Or you can get the card directly from the specified places.
There is a website in New York that shows the places on the map one by one. Quite successful in this regard. They have added all of the places as a link to the site and you just click on the place you want to go, you can see the exact location of the city and the information of the place.
Now let me start by explaining the things to do in New York in order. But there’s something I need to inform you about before. Don’t look at the map and think it’s close. It will take you one hour to walk across Cental Park to the other end, and about 2 hours from Central Park to the most extreme part of the island. So it may be nice to walk the first days, but the next days are getting tiring. You can spend your energy seeing more places, especially if you reach distant points by taxi or metro.
1. Central Park
I can’t wait to start the day at dawn. It’s time to visit the city I dreamed of for a long time. Even though I am a person living in this big city, I feel like a grain of sand. But I have to start somewhere.
First, we make a route for ourselves and take a route from north to south of the city. Our first stop is a park that is admired not only by the USA but by the world. We are talking about an area of 341 hectares. It takes 1 hour to walk from beginning to end.
2. Metropolitan Art Museum
We start the day with the lakes and trees in the park which is built around the huge skyscrapers. Dozens of squirrels accompany us on the way. We travel to the history of the world at the Metropol Art Museum, a wonderful museum in the park. It is known as MET in short.
We are talking about seeing more than 2 million works of art. After visiting the museum, we go up to the rooftop and am enchanted by the wonderful views of Central Park and Manhattan. “Good thing I’m here,” I say.
3. American Museum of Natural History
The American Museum of Natural History, the museum where dinosaurs and animals are exhibited and which I am most impressed with, is our next stop.
This is also in Central Park. Especially when I see the skeletons of dinosaurs, I cannot hide my amazement about their size and grandeur. There is a difference between seeing in documentaries and books and seeing the skeletons of their truth as much as mountains. You can’t believe.
4. Guggenheim Museum
We didn’t actually visit here. We didn’t have time. We only took a photograph of the building, which has an interesting architecture. If you wish, you can visit and see the works of world famous artists. It is announced especially to museum lovers.
5. Apple Store
As soon as we leave the park, we go to the famous Apple Store, which is located at the starting point of 5th Avenue. We say we have to come by the way and when I see the crowd inside, I think I get the classic Turkish thought bugün I think it’s free today”.
6. Rockefeller Center
Our next stop is the famous Rockefeller Center on 5th Street. It is owned by the Rockefeller tribe, one of the richest families in the world, and has a shopping center and an observation center known as Top of The Rock, where you can see the city from the top.
I cannot describe the happiness of seeing the spectacular Manhattan view from the 80th floor. New York is beautiful.
7. St. Patrick’s Cathedral
We pass through the Rockefeller Center and go to the cathedral just across the street. This is where the funerals of the most important statesmen have ever risen. It’s as charming as the outside. A lot of other cathedrals will make a difference.
8. Broadway
Now, we leave the 5th street and move to the Broadway area where the world’s most important artists are born, the cradle of theaters, performing arts and shows. Everything in this region especially 6-9. Between Avenue and 41-54. is located in the section extending between the street. Especially worth a visit in the evening. We fall under the spell of lights and dream.
9. Times Square
We go to Times Square, the heart of the city, right on Broadway. There is a constant crowd both day and night. The lights that hit you blindly in your face cause you to dream for a moment.
10. Empire State Building
We leave Times Square and walk to the Empire State building, the symbol of the country and the city, within walking distance. It was the tallest building in the city during our visit.
In order to see the city from the top, we go to the observation point on the 86th floor. Especially at sunset and night time, the city’s shining lights and skyscrapers created by the landscape, is worth every $ 1 you give.
11. New York Public Library
Our next stop is the New York Public Library, the third largest library in the world with more than 50 million collections. By the way, we dive in a place that should be seen. After seeing the splendor in it, I think of our libraries. There are many long ways to go. It’s more obvious after people see it.
12. Madison Sqaure Garden
We are going to Madison Square Garden, one of the biggest stadiums in the city. But we’re not going in. If you can coincide, try to participate in one event.
13. Flatiron Building
Continue exploring the city on foot. Slowly I feel the pain in my feet. But somehow I don’t want to stop. We see the Flatiron Building, the first skyscraper in the country, and take photographs. Very interesting building. By the way, it must be seen.
14. Union Square
We go to Union Square which is located in the middle of the city for a little rest. In fact, there are lots of big and small parks in the city. So, according to your tiredness and route status, you can also consider other parks and take your coffee and relax in these parks.
Anyway, I can’t stop again and I want to hit the road right now. The destination is the famous Soho.
15. Soho
South Houston Street is the acronym of this region, hundreds of boutiques, restaurants and cafes accompanied by the streets disappear.
16. Little Italy
I was very surprised to see that the names of the regions formed by different nations in almost all cities were formed by the people who migrated to that region.
This situation, which we are not accustomed to as a country, is quite ordinary for Americans. The same goes for New York. We walk around the streets dominated by Italian culture. 17. Chinatown
We are going to the Chinatown, which is right next to the Italian Quarter, where we feel the effects of Chinese culture on the streets. This is a very colorful place. It’s an area with shops where everything you can think of is sold.
It is within walking distance of both the Soho district and the Italian quarter. In the meantime, we bought a 3-day tour from an agency here and purchased a Philadelphia-Washington-Niagara Falls and 1000 islands tour.
Accommodation and transportation was around 150 dollars. There are a lot of sites that do these things. I strongly recommend that you take an online tour from someone and make these routes.
18. Financial District
I notice something on the way to the financial district at the far end of the city. The streets are getting dark. Although it’s daytime, I understand why.
The skyscrapers are built so often that you cannot see the sunlight as you walk through the narrow streets. We pass in front of the New York Stock Exchange in the region and take a photograph of the bull sculpture, the symbol of the region.
19. Statue of Liberty
After passing the bull statue, we walk through the park and reach the dock. On our left is the Brooklyn Bridge and the Statue of Liberty. We take a ferry and go to see the famous statue on Liberty Island.
The Manhattan view behind us, the Statue of Liberty, one of the most important symbols of the world in front of us. But it doesn’t affect me very much. The purpose is to have seen. In the meantime, when we come to the island, we learn that if you buy a ticket before you can enter the statue and go to the top.
20. Elis Island Migration Center
After leaving the island, our next stop is Elis Island, the transit center for immigrants coming to New York. This center is located on the island, right next to the Statue of Liberty. We visit the museum here and we take the ferry back to Manhattan.
21. Brooklyn Bridge
Our last stop in the area is the Brooklyn Bridge which has been the subject of many films and has great architecture. We walk across the bridge.
As you walk along the road with the view of skyscrapers and the statue of liberty, one feels himself on a film set. Who knows how many films I’ve seen in this scene…
22. Colombia University
We are going to one of the most important universities in the USA. One understands better what college means. “If these are universities, what do we have? Orum I ask myself.
It’s not a university, it’s a work of art. We walk around the garden of this wonderful university and head for the Harlem district just down the street.
23. Harlem
Actually, this is where Central Park ends. We’re going to know that this region is the most dangerous area of the city. But we can travel freely and comfortably before anything happens. I think you’il have no problems during the day.
Gez Is this New York? Insan one cannot help but ask himself. Almost everybody is black. The houses are neglected. Poverty knee length. This is the region where most black people migrate. You already notice it when you’re traveling. In fact, you can see the real face of the world in the city where the fake lights of New York reign.
