The Netherlands will stop promoting the country

The Dutch complain of not being able to visit places like Keukenholf tulip garden and Kinderdijk windmill during high season.

Concerned that cities and tourist sites are becoming overcrowded, the Dutch Ministry of Tourism will stop active promotion of the country. The annual number of tourists visiting the country is expected to rise from 19 million to 29 million in the next 10 years. However, the Dutch authorities do not find it very positive.

Bakanlık We should act now to control the influx of visitors and take advantage of the opportunities provided by tourism, the Ministry said in a document for the next 10 years. Instead of encouraging more tourists to the country, it’s time to see how we manage them..

The ministry, which aims to direct visitors to the lesser-known points of the Netherlands, also has concerns that it “corrupts” the places visited by tourists.

The country has become more popular in the last 10 years and has been influenced by visitors. Increasing property prices, public order and disruption of neighborhood culture are all worrisome for the ministry.

The number of visitors to the capital Amsterdam increased from 11 million in 2005 to 18 million in 2016. In order to control the number of tourists and cover expenses, the tourist taxes in the city were raised last year. This year, tax rates are expected to be raised further.

In addition to the Dutch capital, attractions such as the Keukenholf tulip garden and the Kinderdijk windmill are also of great interest. The local infrastructure is inadequate to accommodate a large number of tourists because of the public, especially in high season periods can not go here is recorded.
